Both of our sons have attended the 3- and 4-year-old programs at Discover Preschool. Although there are many options in the area for preschool education, Discover was hands down the only option for our sons. Mrs. Drake and Mrs. Ross are amazing teachers and it is clear every day that they have passion for what they do. They instill this passion into every child.

Routine has always been important with our kids. At Discover, this routine is continued with a morning song, followed by Mrs. Drake explaining what they will be doing for the day, and usually a visit by the kids' favorite friends, the puppets Harry and Amelia. This is followed by center based projects that reinforce the theme of the day. The second half of the school day is made up of gross motor activities in the gym, singing songs, or introducing other pre-math and pre-reading concepts like graphing, patterning, etc. There is also time for free play during the school day when the kids are encouraged to pretend in the Discover Village or play with the other toys in the classroom.

The parent volunteers are one of the key elements to success at Discover. The parent volunteers help in the centers each day. This allows the kids to learn the lesson or theme of the day using all their senses and also encourages the development of their fine motor skills. As a parent, it has also been fun to meet and get to know the boy's friends.

This year, Discover introduced Zoo Phonics. Zoo phonics introduces letter sounds and lower case letters through the use of animals and associated motions. The concepts introduced through the zoo phonics program have had amazing results and my son is well-prepared for kindergarten and most importantly is excited about learning and going to school full-time.

Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better preschool education for our children. The teachers are well-prepared every day and know how to handle challenging situations with ease. Most importantly, both Mrs. Drake and Mrs. Ross are always striving to improve the program through continuous education and parent feedback.
