A Program for 4-Year-Olds
Option 1: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (9 am - 12:30 pm)
Option 2: Monday, Wednesday (9 am - 12:30 pm) | Friday (9 am - 2 pm)
Option 3: Monday, Wednesday, Friday (9 am - 2 pm)
The curriculum for fours builds upon the basic skills, encouraging growth and development of fine motor skills (handwriting skills, cutting, drawing, puzzles, building, manipulating small objects) and gross motor skills (understanding how the body moves in space, moving to music, using large muscles in activities such as hopping, skipping, jumping, balancing), cognitive skills (colors, shapes, numbers, letters, phonics), language skills (rhyming, sequencing, finger plays, songs), and social emotional skills (getting along with others, taking turns, developing confidence).
These skills are incorporated into the themes to encourage individual and group growth through hands-on activities. Puppets are used to enhance the curriculum and teach various concepts in a fun, interactive manner. The extended day options include literacy, dramatic play and science activities, and allow more time for skill development throughout the curriculum. Children bring their own lunch to school when choosing the extended day options. The skills necessary for a smooth transition to kindergarten are the focus of this hands-on, interactive class.
